Burgundy

Burgundy has over 2,500 different producers, over 1,500 different terroirs and over 1,200 different climats. It can be expensive and complicated. Vines and winemaking are key with the winemakers showing the terroir of the grape more so than adding production techniques and oak. The major Grapes are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Aligoté is another white grape and the base of the Kir. Chablis to the North is all Chardonnay and to the south is Beaujolais which is Gamay. The Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Cote Chalonnaise and Maconnais are in between and their specialties are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
